Those who know me are already aware that I have a thing for red shoes. And if it is a la Dorothy, glittery and sparkling, all the better !
It seems I am not the only one mad about the Wizard of Oz’s fashion statement. To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the film, Warner, Swarovski and Saks have asked fashion designers to come up with their version of what possibly are the most famous shoes in the world.
Christian Louboutin, Diane Von Fürstenberg, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani, Lisa Pliner, Manolo Blahnik, Moschino, Oscar de la Renta, Pedro Garcia, Roger Vivier, Sergio Rossi are only a few of the 17 asked to come up with a 21st century version of the ruby slippers.
They were shown in New York Fashion Week during the last 2 seasons and at an exhibition held at Saks Fifth Avenue. They will tour around the world and then auctioned with the proceeds benefiting the Elisabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. The shoes have just arrive for the first time in London at the Swarovski Crystallize lounge. Do I need to say I want one of each ?!!
